You always have a choice
I am sure that at some point in your life, you allowed something to “happen to you” because you claimed you didn’t have a choice. We always have other options. The consequences might not thrill us, but we still have the choice. Are you willing to face the consequences of your decisions, or are you allowing life to choose for you? Either way, you will have a life. Will it be by default or by design?
Choice suggests the opportunity or privilege of choosing freely, but that is not always how it feels. When choosing between two or several options, we often concern ourselves with what other people will think. And, to compound the stress of choosing, we know that everything we choose will affect more lives than our own.
I know when I chose to seek alternative healing methods, not everyone in my household agreed. It would have been easier to take the typical road, have surgery, and be done with it. I have always been a seeker, and when given an opportunity for growth, I will choose growth every time. If someone makes a decision you aren’t comfortable with, the best thing you can do is offer support. Supporting someone else’s choices opens your mind to more possibilities.
Wouldn’t it be nice to just flip a coin and be happy either way?
If you observe some of the happiest people on the planet, you may notice that their choices aren’t what brings joy. Joy is an inside job, regardless of circumstances. Opportunities aren’t static, either. Make a decision today, and if it doesn’t feel right after a while, make another choice. Choose to be happy either way. That’s the most significant choice you need to make each day.
