Heart and Soul Reflections
I have been studying meditation and the souls journey I conceived a whole different meaning to the phrase ‘home is where the heart is’.
When you research this age old idiom, you will discover that it was attributed to Pliny the Elder, a Roman Scholar. However, no one can prove that he was the first to exclaim these heartfelt words. The consensus is however, that the phrase means “one’s home is made up of the places and people one loves or cherishes most”. (You can check out all the other references here.)
Meditation and Chakras
I would like to go a little deeper with this phrase and consider where our soul’s home is. If you have done any work with chakras or meditation, you are aware of the heart chakra. For those that are new to energy work, I offer a brief description.
Chakras are energy centers that correspond with different parts of the body. There are seven that reside in the body and many others that are outside our physical being. The fourth chakra is named the Heart chakra and is located in the center of the chest. It’s symbol is the twelve petaled lotus flower. This is the chakra of love, balance, relationship, unity, and healing.
When we are healthy in mind, body, and spirit, the chakras rotate creating energy. If we are not healthy in mind, body, and spirit, these energy centers can become stagnate and block the flow to the other energy centers.
To learn more about Chakras, I suggest reading Anodea Judith, Ph.D. Her book Wheels of Life has been my chakra go-to book for decades.
Taking it Home
So, “back to home is where the heart is”; I would like to switch around a bit and state that “heart is where the home is”. If we consider our soul and where it lives, I believe it would be in the heart chakra.
I had the opportunity to spend some time, via zoom, with Gay Hendricks, author of The Big Leap. He told a story about an accident he experienced. Gay had slipped and fell on some ice and had a moment of insight where he saw his physical body peeling away, layer by layer like and onion, and at the center he saw and felt a connection with higher consciousness. Through this he got to experience that beautiful sensation of being truly connected with our Higher Power.
When I heard this story, I had a moment of insight where I truly felt my soul’s essence hanging out inside of my physical body saying, “Hey, I’m in here, come find me.”
I hope you will join me in re-connecting with our heart and soul. Register for my next workshop, Clarity of Purpose here. It is free and will help you find clarity for your soul’s purpose on Earth. What could be more fun than that?
